Dr. Shanta Ratnayaka, a professor of religious studies at the University of Georgia, dedicated husband and father, and humble humanitarian.  The Shanta Education Fund honors the late Dr. Ratnayaka’s dedication to issues of educational access, by providing scholarships and curricular programs for promising students from economically marginalized circumstances.

World Children’s Initiative (WCI) is partnering with the non-profit organization, Educate Lanka to select the inaugural class of students for the Shanta Fund.  Each student selected for the Shanta Fund will receive bi-annual scholarships, interim check-ins, one-on-one counseling, and personal and academic guidance to help maximize their academic potential.

Educate Lanka alumni and student pursuing higher education are engaged as mentors to create a sustainable loop of mentoring.  In addition to the mentorship, corporate and employer partnerships provide students with access to content relating to employer specific workforce skills and connection through innovative content creation disbursement platform.

WCI is excited to partner with Educate Lanka to honor Dr. Shanta Ratnayaka and his legacy.  His passion to provide educational opportunities for children continues to fuel WCI’s commitment to help children play harder and live longer by improving and rebuilding the healthcare and educational infrastructure for children around the world.
